I received a call from my human companion last night.  He just finished visiting an AWESOME Equine Rescue in Colorado.  They provide emergency relief, shelter, care, rehabilitation, adoption services and sanctuary for abused, neglected, abandoned and unwanted horses.  My eyes began to swell when he told me about some of the horrific stories.  I am a dog; however, my heart goes out to all our living friends.  We animals are not always able to care for ourselves, and need the help of humans to get us through some of these tough times.  Please share with us some experiences you have encountered while visiting your local animal shelter, sanctuary, SPCA or the like.  We need to stick together for the sake of all living creatures.
